New Firmware Features for the PT-JOY-G4
11/16/2023 PT-JOY-G4 Firmware Feature Highlights:
- New Custom Button
Take a new level of control over your production with a customizable joystick button on the PT-JOY-G4 and PT-SUPERJOY-G1 controllers. This button is conveniently located at the top of the joystick controller for quick access to your most used functions. This joystick button is fully customizable, so you can choose if you want it to start recording in your video production software, instantly start auto-tracking on your currently selected camera, dim the lights, and so much more!
- SuperPresets
The PT-JOY-G4 can now trigger SuperPresets to control up to eight cameras with a single click. Super-Preset buttons can trigger synchronized PTZ preset commands across the selected cameras and a custom HTTP trigger for automation with video production software. The PT-SUPERJOY-G1 was the first PTZ joystick to offer this feature, and the PTZOptics engineering team is happy to announce this functionality is now available in our more affordable PT-JOY-G4 model.
- Automatic Triggers
PTZOptics IP joystick controllers now support automatic triggers, which can be used to trigger a command when switching a camera. Automatic Triggers are ideal for integrating your PT-JOY-G4 or PT-SUPERJOY-G1 joystick controllers with your video switcher or other production equipment. Use Automatic Triggers to automate your video production workflow to effortlessly queue up your next camera or prepare your next scene.
- New Dynamic Camera Variable
There is a new variable that can be used in the SuperJoy’s and the PT-JOY-G4’s Web UI to optimize the use of custom buttons. Using the new {{CURRENT_CAM}} stub instead of a hard-coded IP address allows you to send a custom command to the currently selected camera. This new option allows you to use custom button commands with a vastly larger amount of cameras.
- Additional Feature Updates and Bug Fixes
Additional features and bug fixes are outlined in the firmware changelog for each joystick here. Other notable features include the ability to save Pan, Tilt, Zoom, and Focus speeds for each camera, along with the ability to display Exposure and White Balance on the LCD screen of the SuperJoy. If you have feature requests for your IP joystick controller, our team would love to hear about them. Share your experience as a PTZ camera operator in our Facebook User Group here.

Easy pan, tilt & zoom controls for your PTZ camera! Controls pan & tilt with variable speeds to match every option inside PTZOptics cameras. Use a 2 & 3-dimensional joystick with “twist” control of focus and zoom! Easily set up pan and tilt limits using the latest version of the PTZOptics camera firmware.
Tip: Setup pan limits to restrict camera operators from moving outside a given area. Set up boundaries limits for fast-moving sports games like basketball and hockey. This way, your camera operators can quickly move left or right without ever “overshooting” the game space boundaries.
Tip: Lower tilt limits when tracking presenters on stage. If your camera operators are mainly concerned with left to right movement, avoid accidentally tilting the camera up or down by reducing the camera’s motor speeds for this action.
This PTZ joystick controller is compatible with most PTZ cameras, including Sony cameras! Pair it with PTZOptics or HuddleCamHD cameras to experience its full capabilities.
Yes. This joystick controller can be powered via an Ethernet cable with Power over Ethernet (PoE).
This joystick can control up to 255 network-connected PTZ cameras. Each camera requires an IP address in order to be setup with the controller. It can also control up to 7 cameras connected via serial VISCA.
