Robotic Camera Options for Sports and Live Events

In the video, Kyle Heinze covers many types of robotic cameras such as spidercams (typically used to provide “flyover” coverage of college and professional football games), aerial drones, “roving” cameras, broadcast cameras mounted on robotically controlled arms or tracks and PTZ cameras.

Late summer and autumn were busy with trade shows both nationally and internationally. The PTZOptics team showed off our wares at IBC in Amsterdam September 12-15, and in New York City for NAB NYC October 22-23. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booths!

Speaking of major international trade shows, PTZOptics was honored to have Hive Studio named Best of Show from TVBEurope at IBC in Amsterdam.
TVBEurope, the independent voice of the media and entertainment industry, provides independent commentary, insight and analysis of the expanding media and entertainment marketplace. Product & Firmware Updates
We recently added Voice Tracking support for the Epiphan Pearl 2 & Epiphan Pearl Nano. The current supported switchers for Voice Tracking are:
- vMix
- OBS
- Inogeni CAM230
- Epiphan Pearl 2
- Epiphan Pearl Nano
Hive Studio has just received an update (Version 1.0.88) focused on enhancing performance, reliability, and monitoring for Hive-Linked cameras. This release introduces Adaptive Profiles, which enable cameras to automatically adjust based on device load, thereby reducing streaming issues and crashes. Users will also see clearer alerts and visual indicators when a camera is under stress, helping them take faster action.
Please note: Because these profiles are preset and applied automatically, they cannot be adjusted or changed.
You’ll also notice refinements to the Monitoring and RTMP stream output views for a cleaner interface, as well as some general bug fixes. View the full release notes here.
There’s been a firmware update to the 12X-USB, 20X-USB, & PTEPTZ box camera that provides additional network security. Please find the latest firmware files here and the full firmware changelogs here.
